Celebrate National BBQ Month in Addison

May is National BBQ Month and we are ready to celebrate! After all, this is Texas and we are all about BBQ. Smoked brisket? Sausage? Turkey? Chicken? Yes, yes, yes and yes! Let’s celebrate National BBQ Month right.

Smokie’s Bar B Q

Smokie’s Bar B Q is located just north of Addison Airport on Addison Road. Charles “Smokie” Smith owns this BBQ restaurant and serves beef brisket, sausage, chicken pulled pork, pork ribs and more. All sides are homemade, and they catered. Whether getting food just for you or the whole family, they have you covered. www.smokiesbarbq.com

Spring Creek Barbeque

This is actually one of my dad’s favorite places. He’s been coming here for years. We love eating here because the portions are always large, the food tastes great and because of the free Blue Bell ice cream cups on Sundays. I’m a sucker for their ribs and the cracked black pepper sausage, I highly recommend them. www.springcreekbarbeque.com

Soulman’s Bar-B-Que

Soulman’s serves authentic Texas-style BBQ. Choose from beef, chicken, ham, turkey, pork, sausage, hot links, and ribs. According to their website, “All of our meats are cooked “low and slow” over hickory wood, just the way it’s always been done.” Their serving portions are large, you won’t leave here hungry. www.soulmans.com

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is another local restaurant chain with an Addison location. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit slow smokes all meats on-site. Their menu features beef brisket, pulled pork, St. Louis style ribs, polish sausage, spicy cheddar sausage, smoked turkey and marinated chicken. Their homestyle sides include delicious jalapeño beans, macaroni and cheese and more. They also serve buttery rolls with every meal and FREE ice cream. Bonus for us parents, kids eat free Sunday. www.dickeys.com

Cattleack Barbeque

Cattleack is open for lunch and takeout every Thursday and Friday and the first Saturday of every month (For the month of May they will be open Saturday the 11th.) The doors open at 10:30 a.m. and they stay open until they run out of meat. There is usually a line so make sure to get there early. Their menu includes brisket, pork ribs, homemade sausages, beef ribs, pulled pork, turkey and chopped brisket. Follow them on Facebook for their “Item of the Week” and much more. www.cattleackbbq.com
