My favorite Valentine’s Day date ended in a proposal (I said “Yes!” of course) and a champagne toast – but I’ve also spent amazing Valentine’s Days cuddled up on the couch with wine and pizza. Candlelit dinners, chocolate covered strawberries and romantic sunset strolls are amazing, but they aren’t the only way to spend this holiday. We’ve compiled a list of classic and unique Valentine’s Day date night ideas so you can spend February 14 with your favorite person, doing whatever sounds best for the two of you.
Get Pampered Together
Avoid the crowds and spend a relaxing day with your boo getting a couple’s massage, facial or other spa treatment instead. Grand Spa offers many Valentine’s Day specials you can take advantage of, like the stress-relieving couple’s Swedish massage in 50-, 80- and 110-minute increments at $220, $310 or $440 respectively. Take it up a notch with the A Kiss of Bliss For Two! special for $330, which is an 80-minute Swedish massage that includes a delightful sugar scrub on your back or feet. The Honey and Me package is another wonderful option, where you will receive an intimate 80-minute couples massage, organic facials and seasonal pedicures for $605. If you are looking for a blissful Valentine’s Day, spending it in a spa is the perfect way to go!
Celebrate the Arts
Bond with your date over a shared love of the arts this Valentine’s Day! Explore your creative side by signing up for a painting class at Pinot’s Palette for just $35 per painter. From 7-9 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, the two of you can paint “Romance on the Beach Date Night,” which is a beautiful landscape painting of a sunset reflected in blue water, with two hearts drawn in the sand. This painting is designed so that each canvas represents half of the image; when hung up together, it forms one complete, beautiful scene.
Or, enjoy the performing arts together by seeing Pablo Francisco perform at the Addison improv on Valentine’s Day. This hilarious comedian is known for his spot-on impersonations, as he can morph himself into famous movie stars, singers and celebrities. His quick wit and entertaining personality have made people fall in love with him all over the world – as evidenced by his more than 100 million YouTube visitors. Seeing this show will make your night unforgettable; after all, couples who laugh together, stay together!
Go on an Adventure
First dates are an adrenaline rush, but if you’ve been married for a long time, then it can take a little more excitement to get your heart racing. Make this Valentine’s Day an adventure by doing something completely outside of your comfort zone: like riding in a helicopter! Sign up for an Epic Helicopter tour for $179 per person, where you and your partner will hop in a helicopter at Addison Airport and soar through the air! Drink champagne, hold hands and take pictures as you glide through the night sky over famous landmarks in Dallas. This date gives a whole new meaning to being swept off your feet.
Enjoy a Romantic Dinner
Treating your loved one to a delicious dinner is a Valentine’s Day tradition! Luckily, there are many places in the Corridor to snag a romantic meal. At Table 13, guests can dine on a vintage-inspired four-course meal, complete with live music and a rose for your girl, for just $75 per person. The special menu includes an appetizer, such as bacon-wrapped dates or chilled shrimp cocktail; a soup or salad; an entrée, including sea bass, Steak Delmonico, filet mignon and more; and your choice of dark chocolate torte, Crème Brûlée or lemon cake for dessert.
Or, spend a cozy evening at Arthur’s Dallas, which is $85 per person on Valentine’s Day. Start with your choice of shrimp cocktail, Arthur’s shrimp salad, hearts of lettuce salad, lobster and lump crab cakes or Arthur’s signature champagne brie. Next, go with the savory prime ribeye steak, pan-seared Atlantic salmon or lobster seafood thermidor among other options. Finish with your choice of chocolate cake, Arthur’s cheesecake or the Grand Marnier Crème Brûlée.
Share a Dessert
For an evening as sweet as your sweetheart, go out for dessert this Valentine’s Day. Great company plus a sugar high is a recipe for a delightful date! Visit the Melting Pot and get to know each other while dipping treats in a delectable chocolate fondue. Choose your favorite chocolate – they have everything from plain milk chocolate to Rocky Road – and the restaurant will provide plenty of fruits and little treats to dip. Wash it down with a dessert drink. We recommend the Café Royal made with Patron XO Café, coffee, whipped cream and cocoa or the Billionaire’s Coffee, made with Godiva Dark Chocolate Liqueur, Grand Mariner, Kahlua, coffee and whipped cream. Don’t forget: in honor of love, calories don’t count on Valentine’s Day!
No matter what you decide to do, the most important thing is that you are spending Valentine’s Day with the person you love. If you have that, anything you do will be amazing!
