Breakfast for Dinner? Yes Please!

Being in the music business, normal work hours are almost non-existent. Recording sessions that go deep into the night. Rehearsals that have to be worked around other band members. So many other reasons. This is where I learned the beauty of breakfast for dinner. Finding places that were open late and would serve breakfast at all times, because after being in the studio for hours on end, I just wanted some scrambled eggs with bacon and biscuits. Although those sessions are far and few between now, I still love getting breakfast at dinner time.

Taqueria La Ventana not only serves some amazing al pastor and suadero tacos; they actually serve breakfast all day. Choose from either breakfast tacos or quesadillas with bacon, egg and cheese, chorizo egg and cheese or potato, egg and cheese. The tortillas are made fresh daily and they are open until 10 p.m. during the week and 11 p.m. on the weekends. Visit their website for the full menu.

Astoria Caffe at Addison Circle is everything you would think a European café would be. Enjoy a very calm and relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for reading, studying or working remotely. Their breakfast menu is available all day, which makes it one of the places I will frequent when I’m working on a big project and need to be away from my normal writing desk. A lot of my inspiration when writing happens around breakfast food and Astoria Caffe gives me plenty of inspiration. The Mortadella Breakfast or the Astoria Breakfast are a must, and they serve Lavazza Italian coffee. Very delicious!

One of my favorite places is Waffle House. So much so that on a trip to Atlanta I may have visited the Waffle House museum and maybe ended up at their corporate office to purchase a few souvenirs. It may not look very flashy, but they are always friendly and when it’s late at night and you just want to be low key, Waffle House delivers. My favorite dish here is their delicious waffles topped with chocolate chips, a cup of hot coffee and scrambled eggs. The staff at our Waffle House on Belt Line and Marsh are very friendly and will make you feel like family quickly.

Can’t forget to mention IHOP, especially during their “all you can eat pancakes” special. My kids love going to IHOP because they will stuff themselves on pancakes and hot chocolate with whipped cream.
