Doha’s City Center

Escape the cool winter air for a land that is sunny and 70 degrees right now: Doha, Qatar! Although technically considered the desert, Doha is a serene city right on the water of the Persian Gulf. Here, you can admire fascinating architecture, learn about history and culture, relax in nature and go shopping at a street market. It’s a great spot to kick off your 2019 travel plans!

Museum of Islamic Art

As a 2018 TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice winner, the Museum of Islamic Art is a can’t-miss destination in Doha. Before you even go in, you’ll be impressed by the unique, five-story building made with white limestone that sits right on the turquoise-colored water. Inside, you can admire the handmade Islamic art, including metalwork, ceramics, paintings, glass, jewelry and more, as well as seasonal exhibits and displays.

Katara Cultural Village

Broaden your mind and learn about diversity at the Katara Cultural Village, a fascinating place where theatre, literature, music, art, and more come together to share unique cultures and promote understanding. Walk through a Roman-inspired amphitheater, drink a cup of karak (a warm, Qatari tradition) and ride in a gondola across the water. This is a peaceful spot where you can spend all day, wandering around and appreciating the beauty all around you.

Souq Waqif

Go back in time by exploring the Souq Waqif, where you can buy traditional clothes, handmade art and souvenirs. If you get hungry, stop by one of the many local restaurants scattered throughout, like the Damasca One Restaurant, that serves freshly prepared Syrian food like Chicken Kabsah or Sliced Lamb Meat Pie.

Sharq Village & Spa

At the end of a long day, relax by staying at the Sharq Village & Spa, situated on a private beach in Doha. The luxurious rooms feature traditional décor and plush bedding, as well as views of the coast, pools or gardens. Book a beauty treatment or massage at the Sharq Village Spa, dine on the terrace overlooking the bay or spend an afternoon relaxing on the water. It’s the perfect way to recharge after a busy day of exploration.
