Unique Holiday Decorations

Holiday decorating isn’t complete until you’ve dusted off that one ceramic Santa Claus that you’ve had for decades and proudly displayed it in your home. While maintaining traditions is important, there is also something magical about switching things up! This year, add a few unique holiday decorations to the mix to help make this time of year even more special. Keep reading for some ideas to get you started.

Southern Charm

Reese Witherspoon’s décor company, Draper James, has partnered with Crate & Barrel for a holiday collection full of Southern charm. This cozy throw pillow is red and white, with the words “south for the winter” embroidered on the front, which would look perfect in your living room. We also love this red-and-blue plaid tree skirt with the words “Gather ‘Round” embroidered in white along the bottom – a perfect reminder of the importance of family coming together at this time of year.

Unusual Displays

Everyone puts ornaments on the tree and wreaths on the front door, so hanging these classic decorations somewhere else makes for an unexpected twist. Start with some pretty, shimmery ornaments – like these gold glitter ones from Z Gallerie – and tie them to different lengths of ribbon. Tie the other ends of the ribbons to a curtain rod and hang against a window to make it shine! Next, take a wreath, like this silver LED glitter wreath, and hang it from the ceiling about a foot away from a hall mirror or fireplace mantle. This will help it draw attention as a festive centerpiece.

Show off Your Personality

Christmas is a time to get creative, so feel free to put up distinct pieces that show off your personality. For example, this life-size butler polar bear from Neiman Marcus is adorable and practical – he holds up a real tray that you can put drinks on at your next party! Or showcase your love of nutcrackers with this beautiful nutcracker topiary, which features a handcrafted nutcracker on top of a Christmas tree, fixed on a gold base. Finding unique decorations like these will quickly become your new favorite holiday tradition!
