Ernest Hemingway Wrote in Death in the Afternoon, “Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing.” I think Hemingway nailed it with this description. Wine can do so much to transform not just a meal, not just a recipe or a social event. It can help you discover flavors that you never knew you could taste. When paired correctly, it enhances a meal by bringing out the flavors that can only be unlocked by the wine itself. In a recipe, it ties the different ingredients together to create something amazing. In a social setting, it brings people together to have a good time as they talk and socialize. In Addison, we have great spots where you can dine and enjoy some of the best wine you’ve ever had.
For an amazing dinner with great wine, there are several amazing places including III Forks, Texas de Brazil and Gorji.
At III Forks enjoy one of their delicious steaks and ask your server about pairing it with one of the wines from their cellar. You will not be disappointed. A bonus at III Forks is their ‘First Wednesday Wine Tasting’ events. On the first and third Wednesday of every month, III Forks invites guests to sample six wines from a featured region along with hors-d’oeuvres. At the end of the night, you can vote for your favorite one which will be added to the menu for the following month.
When you visit Texas de Brazil, you are taken into a place where there are delicious cuts of meat being served as far as the eye can see. Cooked to perfection and served by authentic Brazilian Gauchos, Texas de Brazil serves up a lot of flavorful dishes. With over 17 different cuts of meats, it can be a daunting task to pair a glass of wine with your meal. But don’t worry. The Gauchos can help pair the perfect wine with your meal and they are more than happy to do so. The service experience here is incredible.
Steaks, seafood and some of the most delicious Mediterranean dishes you will ever taste are served at Gorji. As the area’s first “no tip” fine dining restaurant, Chef Gorji has created a restaurant where you feel like part of the family from the start. The wine list is hand-picked by Chef Gorji himself. Rest assured that every wine you taste here will enhance your meal leaving you wanting more.
Finally, one of my favorite places to unwind and have a glass or two, Mercy at the Village on the Parkway. Featuring an extensive wine list as well as a full menu and live music, Mercy is a great place for a romantic date. Their servers are attentive and knowledgeable. If you have a question about a certain wine, just ask, they are more than happy to help and recommend something that will blow your socks off.
