What to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner Parties

The turkey’s done, the stuffing’s warm and the apple pie is cooling on the counter – the only thing left to do is figure out what you’re going to wear! At your Thanksgiving dinner party, you need an outfit that looks nice, keeps you warm and allows you to eat as many helpings of green bean casserole as you want and still look amazing. You can find all of our fashion recommendations right here in the Corridor!

Chunky Sweater

Chunky sweaters should be your holiday party go-to. Not only do they look good on everyone, but they are extremely cozy. The trick is to dress up your sweater with a sparkly pair of earrings and a statement necklace, which will transform your look from normal to formal! We love this cashmere sweater from Ann Taylor, which is half white and half grey and would look amazing paired with skinny jeans and boots. Or make getting ready even easier with this gorgeous cashmere turtleneck dress in a neutral tan that can be worn with tights or alone with your favorite booties.

Velvet Sportscoat

Thanksgiving is the perfect time to wear a wintery velvet sports coat, either with jeans for a casual get-together or with slacks for a nice dinner. For men, we love this blue velvet Ted Baker London sports coat from Nordstrom, which features a trim fit, satin shawl lapels and four-button cuffs. And women will like the Boden velvet blazer in mulled wine. It is made from a stretchy cotton for ultimate comfort, and the deep cranberry color will help you get in a festive mood in no time!

Formal Attire

Sometimes a holiday dinner is a more elegant affair. If your crew likes to go all out on Thanksgiving, then you need to show up to the party dressed to impress. Guys should switch out their normal black suit jackets with something a little more intricate, like this Tom Ford dinner jacket from Neiman Marcus that features a stunning black floral pattern that is smart and sophisticated. For the ladies, we recommend ditching your usual cocktail dress for a formal jumpsuit instead. The Halston Heritage black strapless jumpsuit is simply exquisite with its flowy black legs and fitted bodice covered with sparkling embellishments. Add a nice pair of heels and you’ll look more appetizing than dinner!
