The Civic League Hosts 2018 Holiday Home Tour, Nov. 9-11

Celebrate the holiday season early – and get some great decorating ideas! – by going to the Civic League’s 2018 Holiday Home Tour this weekend! This annual Holiday Home Tour will feature four homes in Farmers Branch that show off their decorative styles, holiday traditions and unique collections.

Stop by from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 9 and 10, and 1-4 p.m. Nov. 11 to tour these beautiful homes. While admiring the festive décor, you can also purchase homemade desserts. One of the homes will also offer the Pick-A-Box event, where you can pay $5 for a gift-wrapped box with a surprise worth $6 or more with one large ticket gift each day.

“The Home Tour is an annual event that’s a fun time to share with friends and family,” said J.J. Jones, publicity chair for the Civic League. “It’s also a great way to contribute to an important fundraiser that benefits our community.”

The Holiday Home Tour is the Civic League’s only fundraiser. Money raised benefits the schools, local arts, children, seniors, people at risk and graduating high school seniors in the community. Thanks to the generosity and support from donors and sponsors of the 2017 Holiday Home Tour, the Civic League was able to give out approximately $100,000 to organizations and students in May 2018. Scholarships totaling $50,100 were presented to 32 local students and civic grants totaling $49,700 were presented to 12 local, nonprofit organizations. Students living in Addison, Carrollton and Farmers Branch, and nonprofit organizations who serve these communities, are always invited to apply for these annual awards.

One high school senior who received a 2018 scholarship from the Civic League said, “Thank you all so much for granting me an opportunity to fulfill my education goals. All of this wouldn’t have happened without you.” Another 2018 scholarship recipient said, “Your great contributions have brought me a step closer to achieving my goals. Your generosity has inspired me to help others and give back to the community. I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just how you have helped me.”

The Civic League Foundation, Inc., is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to community service. Founded in 1963, the Civic League is committed to “contributing to the growth and development of a changing community.” The all-volunteer group provides college scholarships and grants to educational, charitable and cultural organizations. Since it was founded, the Civic League has given $2.9 million to help improve the lives of residents, including $1.65 million in scholarships.
