Benefits of Yoga and Meditation

Why is yoga so popular, you may ask? Studies show that yoga has many physical and mental benefits. Many Americans undergo massive amounts of stress from work and daily responsibilities because of our culture and go-getter mindset, a.k.a the American Dream. The American Osteopathic Association has found yoga is a great way to manage stress which if otherwise unmanaged, leads to devastating effects on the body and mind. Neck pain, sleeping problems and lack of concentration often have less to do with physical ailments and more to do with mental stability and stress. Physically, yoga increases not only flexibility and muscle strength but also cardiovascular and circulatory health. Individuals who practice yoga improve respiration, energy and vitality while maintaining a balanced metabolism. If you’re interested in beginning yoga, come to the Cosmi Yogi Festival or contact local Addison yoga studios such as Gaia Flow Yoga Addison, Samatone Yoga and Body and Brain Yoga on Belt Line Road.
