Randy Clegg and Wayne Curtis rented a storefront from the 88-year-old Fritz Haertel (known as the “Rye King” of Salt Lake City) in 1988, when they founded Apple Spice. Haertel would hang around the ovens, making suggestions on the art of baking bread. Over the past 30 years, Apple Spice has grown and is now located in approximately 40 stores across the country. They use the finest ingredients, as well as Haertel’s tips, to serve delicious food—especially the bread, which is made from scratch each day.
Town of Addison Council Members Lori Ward and Tom Braun, Economic Development and Tourism Director Orlando Campos, and Economic Development Manager Wilson Kerr were in attendance to welcome the new company to Addison.
Whether you want a healthy lunch for a few of your coworkers, or a huge holiday feast for the entire office, Apple Spice is the perfect choice. Welcome to Addison, Apple Spice—we can’t wait to see how your food spices up the Town!
