Coworking Day in the Park

Who wants to stay cooped up in the office all day when you could be enjoying the beautiful fall weather that has (finally!) arrived in Addison? If you’re looking for an excuse to work outside, visit Coworking Day in the Park from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 11 at Addison Circle Park. Hosted by the Town of Addison and the Addison TreeHouse, this event is free and open to the public.

“We hear frequently from our members that they would love to have an outside working option,” said Nancy Hong, the Addison TreeHouse’s new Executive Director, in a recent press release. “We know from the success of the TreeHouse that coworking feeds creativity and productivity, so what better way to share that experience than by recreating a similar experience in Addison Circle Park for the entire community.”

Bring your laptops, iPads and whatever else you need to make Coworking Day a successful one. Spectrum Reach, which has WiFi infrastructure in place at Addison parks, will provide free WiFi to all participants on that day. In addition, restaurants near the circle will offer discounted items to participants, and food trucks will be on site during the lunch hour, so you can take a break with a picnic in the park.

“Addison has long been known for its beautifully landscaped, award-winning parks, which is a huge bonus for business in the community, and the Addison TreeHouse has become known as the place to start a business,” said Orlando Campos, Addison Economic Development and Tourism Director, in the press release. “When you combine the two, you end up with a serendipitous collision, unique to the region with a great opportunity for working people to enjoy.”

The event was designed to encourage businesses to get outdoors and to network while enjoying Addison parks. The pavilion at Addison Circle Park will serve as the center for Coworking Day. It is already equipped with tables, chairs and restrooms. Participants are also encouraged to bring picnic blankets if they want to work in the open lawns.
