14th Annual Dallas MK5K and One Mile Fun Run

On Saturday, October 6, 2018, the 14th Annual Dallas MK5K and One Mile Fun Run will be held at the Mary Kay building in Addison. Participants of all ages are invited to come out to this fun event. Registration is $30 per runner/walker and $35 on race day. Children 12 and under are $20 and virtual walkers are $35 and can participate from anywhere in the country. The first 1,300 registered runners will receive a free t-shirt and online registration closes at 10 AM CST on Friday, October 5.

The schedule is as follows:

·         7 – 8 AM: Packet pick-up & Registration

·         8 AM: 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk begins

·         8:30 AM: 5K Run/Walk begins

·         10 AM: Awards Ceremony

DoMore Race Services will be helping the MK5K time race results. At the back of the racing bib, racers can attach a timing tag. They must not remove and/or alter it in any way. To be included in the results and eligible for an award, you must wear the bib properly and visible in the front. To those who wear a timing device, there are awards up for grabs in certain categories. These include:

Top 3 finishers among Mary Kay employees

Top 3 finishers among Mary Kay Independent Sales Force Members

1st overall Male, Female, and Masters (40+)

       Top 3 finishers in the following categories: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+

Prizes for the race include jewelry, hotel packages, and designer purses. There will also be refreshments and entertainment including a face painter, bounce houses, and door prizes.

In addition to being a great way to get some exercise, there is also another great reason to participate. Every year, the MK5K raises money for women through the Mary Kay Foundation. This independent 501(c3) nonprofit organization helps raises money and support to help prevent domestic violence through services and programs and funds research for cancers affecting women. The Foundation asks walkers and runners to raise these much-needed funds form women in need. Prizes will be available for various levels of fundraising for teams and individuals for top fundraising. In 2017, the Dallas MK5K raised over $123,000 for women in need and the Foundation hopes that this year will be an even better success. Those who wish to donate can either send in money through the mail or online. For more information, or to donate online, go to this link.
