Addison TreeHouse Names New Director

Working with entrepreneurs is what Nancy Hong does best. Her many years of experience and professionalism is why she was recently named as the new director of the Addison TreeHouse!

The Addison TreeHouse opened almost four years ago as a partnership between the Dallas Entrepreneur Center (DEC) and the Town of Addison in order “to help entrepreneurs start, build and grow their business.” It is a co-working space located in Addison, which provides programs and events, mentorship and a vibrant workspace designed to help entrepreneurs grow.

Hong is perfect for this position, as she has more than 10 years experience working in the entrepreneur industry. During her career, she has served in key roles at the University of Texas at Dallas’ Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, worked as co-founder and executive director of the University of North Texas Innovation Greenhouse, and served as the director of Student Programs for the Hub for Women in Business at Texas Woman’s University. Her most recent position was as a consultant at CoWork Incubate, a company that provides consulting services to co-working spaces in Dallas/Fort Worth in order to improve recruitment and retention, grow program offerings, and help member companies connect with community resources.

In addition, Hong has had formal education in business as well, as she graduated from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University with her bachelor’s degree and received a Master of Science in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at UT Dallas.

According to an article published in the Dallas Business Journal, Hong said, “The advantage of taking on this position is that the ecosystem is already built. And all I now have to do is come in and ride the wave, so to speak.”

As director of the Addison TreeHouse, Hong will be working closely with Orlando Campos, the Town of Addison’s economic development director. She will be responsible for overseeing daily operations of the TreeHouse, managing memberships, and managing and creating programs that support the overall goals and mission of the space, according to the TreeHouse’s website. She will also develop and maintain programs and events, strategize and implement marketing and promotion of the TreeHouse, and serve as a liaison between the DEC and the Town of Addison Economic Group among other things.

According to its website, “The TreeHouse is a collaborative co-working environment brimming with experts and thought leaders from major corporations, investment groups, academic institutions and government entities. Through mentorship, in-person training, and financial assistance programs, the TreeHouse gives entrepreneurs access to leaders who have the resources to support their business goals and the personal knowledge and experience to educate entrepreneurs on what it takes to launch, manage and grow a successful business.”

Members at the Addison TreeHouse come from different industries, experience levels and backgrounds, who are all focused on building their businesses in Addison.

The type of membership you want at the Addison TreeHouse is completely up to you. There are three levels—virtual, co-working and dedicated—at a variety of price points designed to serve your individual needs. A virtual membership gives you access to some of the perks, such as a mailbox, resources and events, without having to work at the TreeHouse full time. A co-working membership lets you drop in and work at the TreeHouse during standard office hours, perfect for those still developing an idea, those working as freelancers and consultants and more. The dedicated membership is for young companies to use the TreeHouse 24/7, who need a collaboration space and a place to meet with clients. The TreeHouse will help you find your next customer, connect with strategic partners, raise the necessary capital to grow and promote your business to the media.

At the Addison TreeHouse, members will also have access to more than 500 mentors in the DEC network, who are dedicated to helping entrepreneurs succeed. The mentors will meet with you to provide advice, counsel and experience to help you navigate and avoid obstacles in your path to success.

The DEC is a 501c3 nonprofit organization established in 2013. It provides entrepreneurs with training, education, incubation, programs, events, co-working space, promotion and access to capital. It focuses on stimulating job growth and driving the Dallas community. “Born from a shared vision among small business and entrepreneurship advocates, the DEC believes investment in entrepreneurs is an investment in the community,” stated its website. The Addison TreeHouse is a sister location of the DEC, that provides similar services in Addison.

Congratulations Hong on starting this new position! We are looking forward to seeing the great work you will do at the Addison TreeHouse and for the North Dallas Corridor community!
