A Ponytail For Every Occasion

It’s one of the easiest and oldest hairstyles in the book: the ponytail. It may seem a little boring, but there are plenty of different styles and accessories that can make ponytails beautiful and interesting. When you combine the simple, yet trendy ponytail with a pretty outfit and a confident smile, you will stand out from the crowd. Be sure to use elastic bands/hair ties that match your hair color or clothing and any bows, headbands, or ties that you wish (if you want) to add to the look. Here are eight different recommendations on how to style your ponytail:

Braided Ponytail

This versatile style is both casual and fashionable; you can wear it to the gym or to a night out on the town. Start by pulling your hair back into a high ponytail with smooth edges. Then, braid your hair in the fishtail style all the way down. It will keep the hair out of your face and help you look stylish.

Extra-High Ponytail

If you’re looking for a sleek look, the extra-high ponytail is the one to use. It is super easy to create. All you have to do is turn your head upside down, grab all of your hair with both hands, comb through it, and use a hair tie to hold it up. Sweep the hair around the base to help the ponytail stay up. You can keep the hairstyle straight or add some curls.

Teased Ponytail

Rather than simply tying your hair back for the night, add a little tease to spice things up. Your hair has to be dry, but it can be clean or dirty. Take a section at the top of your head and tease it until the strands have the desired volume. Take a 1-inch section of hair from the underside of your ponytail and secure it with a hair tie.

Center-Part Ponytail

A great way to change the way your ponytail looks is to change the part. Instead of combing over the part, part it straight down the middle and do a normal ponytail. Spray some hairspray or hair oil to smooth things out, and tie it back with an elastic. This will create a neat, yet stunning look for whatever occasion.

Dutch Braid Ponytail

If you are looking for a chic look, you should try the dutch braid ponytail.  Make a messy part down the center of your head. Take one side of the part (a two-inch section of hair near the hairline) and loosely Dutch-braid it all the way to the nape of your neck before tying it off with a clear elastic. Repeat this on the other side and then bring the two ponytails together with a another elastic. Pull on the edges to get a messy look and tug at the hair at the crown for extra volume.

Bubble Ponytail

A casual night out with friends to a movie or dinner is the perfect chance to wear the bubble ponytail. Pull the hair back into a low pony at the nape of your neck and secure it with a hair tie. A couple of inches below the first hair tie, add another elastic. Repeat this process all the way down the ponytail and you have a cute style to rock out in public.

Low Side Ponytail

If you haven’t shampooed in a day, you can still make your hair look great with the low side ponytail. Spray dry shampoo and pull the hair into a low pony off to the side. Toosle it a bit, pull out some strands to frame the face, and give them a quick curl. Add some waves or curls to make the ponytail fun.

Bumped-Up Ponytail

The bumped-up ponytail is great for any party. Simply separate your hair into two sections (front and back) and brush the loose section (the back) and gather it up into a ponytail using an elastic band. For the front section, back comb it and then gather it up and add it to the back part of the ponytail.
