The Town of Addison recently appointed Gary Slagel as Addison’s DART representative through 2020. According to his bio, Gary is the President and CEO of CapitalSoft, Inc. The company develops and implements enterprise level Capital Program Management Software for the public and private sector construction markets. He has a background in technology development and management and has extensive experience in public service.
According to a press release by the Town of Addison, “The cities of University Park and Richardson and the towns of Highland Park and Addison share a representative on the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Board of Directors. Gary Slagel is currently serving in this role and his term is set to expire on June 30, 2018. All four municipalities have agreed to reappoint Mr. Slagel for another two-year term that will expire July 1, 2020.”
He has served in the Richardson City Council, served as Mayor Pro Tem, Mayor and served on the Regional Transportation Council of Governments Executive Board. He was a member of the Metroplex Mayor’s Association and served as its president as well. According to a bio on Mr. Slagel provided by the Town of Addison, “Slagel led several initiatives including the development of four DART station areas, a non-transit mixed uses development, several residential subdivision development areas, a visioning process for the redevelopment of older areas of the city, a comprehensive planning guide process and a working document for the City Council’s Statement of Goals.” He was helped “drive initiatives with the State of Texas Legislature to restructure the governance of DART and to identify an approach for the funding for the regional rail.”
During a time of much growth in this area, public transportation is becoming more and more key for those who are calling Addison and the North Dallas Corridor home.
