The Town of Addison is known for many things: having some of the best food choices, a vibrant community and many entrepreneurs. But the biggest thing that has put Addison on the map is its amazing, over-the-top, spectacular events that take place throughout the year. Now, these wonderful events will be under the direction of someone new. The Town of Addison recently announced Jasmine Lee as its new special events director! She is joining an amazing team that includes Shelbi Stofer, special events manager; Monica Marsh, special events coordinator; Yesenia Saldivar, special events coordinator; and Ashlee Powell, department assistant. Lee started with Addison on June 29, where she immediately jumped into helping with the Town’s annual KaboomTown! Previously, Lee worked in the Special Events Office for the City of Irving.
In her new role as head of the Special Events department for Addison, Lee serves as the liaison to the City Manager, City Council and the community in all matters concerning the Special Events department. She is responsible for administering and evaluating the Town’s event production third-party contractor, planning and evaluating the Town’s annual calendar of events, and manage event staff to ensure all activities are produced and executed in “The Addison Way.” In other words, she works hard to make sure Addisonites and guests can have tons of fun during the Town’s many events.
Addison’s special events department hosts more than 135 events throughout the year, which attract more than 650,000 attendees annually. These events feature a variety of themes, and often include headlining entertainers, fireworks, and amazing food. The most notable events include Taste Addison, KaboomTown!, Summer Series, Vitruvian Nights Live, Vitruvian Salsa Festival, Oktoberfest and Vitruvian Lights.
KaboomTown! is held every July 3 and is consistently rated as one of the best fireworks shows in America. It features live entertainment, food and activities, followed by an air show by the Cavanaugh Flight Museum and a spectacular fireworks celebration.
Taste Addison takes place every May, and it is a celebration of music, fun and (most importantly) delicious food! The weekend event gathers together some of the best restaurants in Addison in one place, so guests can have the chance to try new things and discover favorite foods available in the Town. There is also live music in Addison Circle Park, making it the perfect kick-off to the summer.
Summer Series takes place on Friday nights during the summer in Addison. Each week, gather under the stars at Addison Circle Park or Beckert Park to enjoy live music from a variety of local bands that play tribute music, salsa, country, jazz and more.
Vitruvian Nights Live is a weekly party series every Thursday night from June 14 through August 23. Attendees will love trying out new culinary creations from the gourmet food trucks onsite, and then listening to live music at the Amphitheater at Vitruvian Park.
The Vitruvian Salsa Festival offers a chance to learn something new, have fun and burn calories at the same time! Every Saturday in August from 6-10 p.m., learn how to salsa dance with lessons from Luis Delgadillo of SalsaDallas, then dance the night away at Vitruvian Park! Take breaks to enjoy live bands and eat from the gourmet food trucks.
Addison’s Oktoberfest is held every September, and it is one of the most fun events of the year! As one of the most authentic recreations of the Munich Oktoberfest, it features delicious beer; German sausages, strudel and other delicious German food; amusement park rides and Midway games; bier barrel racing; a German Idol yodeling competition; a keg tapping, live music and people dressed in traditional lederhosen!
Finally, Vitruvian Lights will be from November 25 through January 1, 2019. Dazzling holiday lights will take over Vitruvian Park, as millions of sparkling LED lights in a rainbow variety of colors will be wrapped around more than 550 trees in the park. Take a romantic walk through the park and enjoy the holiday beauty, or come back during one of the many smaller events held during Vitruvian Lights, which will feature hot chocolate, live music and more.
The Town of Addison is home to more than 190 restaurants, 23 hotels, more than 12 million square feet of office space and many attractions, events, activities and retail shops in just 4.4 square miles. Support Lee in her new role as special events director by coming to one of the Town’s many events – more information can be found online.
Congratulations Lee and welcome to the Town of Addison! We are excited to see how you will leave your mark on the Town and its events!
