London-based tech firm, Basis Technologies, recently shifted their North American headquarters from Vancouver, Canada to one of Addison’s very own office buildings. A recent press release disclosed that the decision was made after careful consideration of geography and workforce – two aspects that cannot be beat in our metroplex!
Basis Technologies subleased Addison’s 4,200 square foot office space along Quorum Drive near the North Dallas Tollway. While the company was original founded in the United Kingdom, it relocated in order to better serve a client in British Columbia. Ultimately, they faced a new obstacle, serving other North American based clients in similar fashion.
“It was a good fit for us, and I jumped at the opportunity to bring this to Dallas,” declared an enthusiastic Matt Thomas in the aforementioned press release, Executive Vice President at Basis Technologies. “Everybody thinks the smart talent is in Silicon Valley and Austin, but Dallas is right there in terms of competing.”
The company expects to experience additional growth over the new few years; they currently hold 65 customers across the United States and Canada inclusive of British Petroleum, Proctor & Gamble, Honda, General Electric and Ralph Lauren. It was this “eye toward future expansion,” that made our humble abode a focal point for their business.
“It’s critical for our growth as a company overall that we are strong here,” offered CEO Martin Metcalf in the same news release. “Being centrally located in the country means we can get to everybody with the most efficiency.” Metcalf was also quick to add that for the targeted customer base, North America offers the largest single market.
While the operation started with a mere twenty people, they’re hoping the talent pool in Addison will afford them the opportunity to reach around 100.
Welcome to Addison, Basis Technologies, we’re happy you decided to join the North Dallas family!
