The warm weather beckons, and as temperatures rise, so does our need to venture outside the home and office in order to indulge in the beauty of The Corridor. Lucky for us, we don’t have to journey far. Valley House Gallery & Sculpture Garden is located nearby along Spring Valley Road and it will soon be welcoming exhibitions by Vera Barnett and Trish Nickell.
Vera Barnett’s exhibit, Home, will take the spotlight on Saturday, June 9th, and will commence with a traditional opening reception from 6 pm to 8 pm. Barnett’s work “explores the classical themes of people’s emotional relationships, their environment, and their life circumstances,” an element depicted through miniature trompe l’oeil paintings. Barnett received her education at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
Alongside Barnett is Trish Nickell’s exhibit, Points of View, which will, likewise, debut at Valley House Gallery on Saturday, June 9th, with a shared opening reception. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Nickell’s breathtaking paintings transport viewers to her home along the Northwest Coast and to her favorite destinations in France. “Nickell’s paintings often focus on nature and architectural details, reflecting her philosophy about the sacredness of the ordinary and the sanctuary that nature can be from our chaotic modern life,” reads the gallery description. In addition to the exhibit, Nickell will be giving an Artist Talk on Saturday, June 16th, at 11 am.
This is a great opportunity to step outdoors into the ever-flourishing lush North Dallas scenery. You’ll be inspired and awestruck by the artistic talent and if you’re a collector, you’ll be impressed with Valley House’s 50+ years of experience in collecting, researching, displaying, exhibiting, and – most importantly – selling art. Whether you visit together with friends and family or choose to immerse yourself in the beauty of fine art alone, we assure you you’ll walk away feeling refreshed and utterly moved.
