Going out on a date is not always simple. Whether is meeting someone for the first time or wanting to spend some quality time with your partner, it isn’t always easy trying to figure out what to do and where to go. Dinner and a movie? Concert? Theatre? It can be quite a task. I think the key is to be creative and try to explore new places and things. So, let’s brainstorm some ideas and see what we end up with. No idea is a bad idea.
Let’s start with food. I love food. I love good food, and here in Addison, we have some of the best food around. We love going to Public School 972. Their appetizers are amazing and their rotating menu makes it so every time we go there’s something new to try. The atmosphere is lively and lends itself for a relaxed night out. Another great place is The Grill on the Alley at Galleria Mall. Known as great steakhouse, The Grill on the Alley serves a classic American menu featuring salads, seafood and of course a variety of steaks. This is a little more upscale place, so if you really want to impress your date, this is the place. For something a little more low key, you can’t go wrong with tacos from Taqueria La Ventana. Very chill type place with a cool patio and tasty cold drinks.
Next let’s talk about entertainment. Going out to a movie is an easy choice, and while most movie theaters are all the same, we happen to have two very cool ones in our midst. Look Cinemas is all about the experience. With their luxury dine-in theaters with service from IVY Kitchen you can enjoy great food while watching a movie in The Lofts, or as they describe in their website, “Enjoy our big screen experience in EVOLUTION with power recliners or spend time with the family in the LIVING ROOMS with power recliners, sofas or armchairs.” The other theater is the AMC’s Village On The Parkway 9. Featuring reclining chairs and reserved seating, this is more along the lines of the classic movie theater we’re used to, except the experience has been upgraded to the fullest.
Of course we need to talk about the Addison Improv comedy club. Always featuring the hottest comedians on tour, the Improv is a great place for a date night. Just across the hall is Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar. The best way to describe it is how they put it on their site, “Pete is many things. Pete is the piano players. Pete is the door staff, wait staff and bartenders. Pete is Austins hardwood floors. Pete is the energy bristling in each of our locations. But most importantly, Pete is you. Yeah, you. At Petes Piano Bar, you are the entertainment. It’s your singing, laughing, clapping and dancing that causes an infectious excitement inside everyone each night.”
I can’t forget to mention Gloria’s on the Village on the Parkway. Dance the night away with some of the best bands around. But make sure you get there early because it’s packed every weekend.
