Putting Your Home Back Together Following the Holidays

The holidays are over, now what?

Stop. Listen. Do you hear that? It’s the sweet sound of silence – it’s the fresh start to the New Year. It’s the sound of your determination igniting. 2018 is bold, a blaze ready to scorch the earth, nothing will stop you.

What’s that? You haven’t cleared your home of holiday décor? Not to worry, we’re here to help you revamp and reorganize for the New Year!

Clearing your countertops, mantels, and bedrooms of holiday remains is much easier if you’re process is organized. Fortunately, it doesn’t take much to create a set plan of action. First and foremost, purchase storage containers that allow for easy access, while simultaneously masking unsightly disorder.

Under the bed storage is a lifesaver! If you don’t have a spacious attic, an abundance of closet room, or perhaps you’re part of a larger family, using under the bed storage can allow you to breathe easy. Plus, it’s a cinch to pull out at a moment’s notice, then slide conveniently out of sight when you’re through.

Wrapping Paper Storage is yet another beautiful invention, and it’s an item that can be used year-round, then hidden neatly in the corner of your closet. In fact, most containers are divided so that smaller items – tape, ribbon, bows, etc. – can be hidden as well.

These purchases may be small (which is part of their appeal), but they’re far from trivial! And once you’ve packed away the winter accessories, you can move right along to the revamp.

Look around each room, and take full advantage of spotless surfaces and floors; allow yourself the chance to declutter. Start by giving space a solid deep clean – dust, scrub, vacuum, and polish before bringing back your every day décor.

Furthermore, use this time to weed out the items you don’t necessarily love or feel are dated. For example, if you’ve moved picture frames around, determine whether you want to replace frames with more current images.

Confronting the chaos does not have to be a hassle, it can be a cleansing and can happen bit by bit as you put your home back together. Chances are, you’ll find your taste has changed, and you can donate anything you no longer feel belongs or fits your vision for 2018. Say goodbye, and finalize the process with a list of your new goals. Prioritize and decide what makes you happy, and how you’re going to accomplish tasks that allow you to take this year by storm!
