A countless number of companies make huge profits, but not many will spend a large sum of money to help others. The National Life Group, an insurance company with a Texas campus located in Addison, is one of the select few that enjoys giving back to the community, which they do through the National Life Group Foundation. The company recently announced its annual budget was doubled to $2 million, allowing for new initiatives to begin in 2018.
The increased budget reflects the National Life Group’s strong sales and earnings growth over the past ten years. Part of the new funding will go toward the new Main Street Grants, which is a project designed to support revitalization of downtowns. Another part will go to an initiative that will target ways to combat childhood hunger – something that is currently still being developed.
“When you’re doing well, you need to show up in more ways in the communities that you’re part of,” said Mehran Assadi, chairman, president and CEO of National Life Group in a recent press release. “As citizens of those communities, we need to pay it forward.”
When the foundation was established in 2006, its budget was only $350,000. Assadi advocated for boosting the budget over the past several years, and now with grants, it will be at $2 million in 2018.
“National Life’s values are Main Street values,” Assadi said in the release. “We strive to do good, be good and make good in how we do business every day. This increased investment in our charitable giving is one more way to reflect our values.”
For more than 169 years, Nation Life Group has worked to provide peace of mind in times of need. The Nation Life Group Foundation was established in 2006 in order to do good in the communities in which Nation Life employees live and work. It does this by offering grants to nonprofit and educational organizations, giving employees 40 hours of paid volunteer time a year, sponsoring events and offering in-kind donations.
With this higher annual budget, we are so excited to see what good things the National Life Group Foundation will do next!
