Fashion Colors for the Winter Season

Colorful jewel tones and cranberry are in this season

Winter used to be a time when we would darken our wardrobes with grey, black, navy blue and maroon, almost as if the fashion world in general came down with cold weather blues. But don’t get rid of your brightly colored summer sundresses or ties yet—a dazzling array of bold colors lit up New York Fashion Week’s winter runways this year, and local Corridor stores are taking advantage of the new popular color choices.

World-renowned authority on colors, Pantone, released their Fall 2017 Fashion Color Report with 10 colors for fall and winter. These include bright red Grenadine, deep red Tawny Port, light pink Ballet Slipper, coffee-with-cream colored Butterum, brilliant Navy Peony, elegant Neutral Gray, Christmas-tree colored Shaded Spruce, fun Golden Lime, ocean-like Marina, and delicious Autumn Maple.

Update your brightly colored summer wardrobe for the winter by adding cardigans and boots to cheery outfits, or just buy a few new pieces in these winter colors. For women, we love this Cashmere V-Neck Sweater from Ann Taylor, $169. It comes in Festive Cobalt, Mountain Pine and Rustic Barn, which are similar to Pantone’s Marina, Shaded Spruce and Autumn Maple colors. This soft and snug-fitting 100 percent cashmere sweater will look great with jeans or dress pants!

Take advantage of the bright, feminine Ballet Slipper trend, by purchasing a cocktail dress in the color for your next evening out. This Jay Godfrey Marois Ruffle-Strap Sleeveless Cocktail Dress from Neiman Marcus, $322, is perfect for any occasion. It has a beautiful scoop neckline with flirty ruffle straps. It has a sheath silhouette to show off your curves, and hits just at your knees for a more sophisticated look. And the entire dress is in Ballet Pink, so you are sure to stand out at the party!

It’s easy for men to rock the new winter colors – just purchase a few of these Nordstom Men’s Shop Quarter Zip Wool Pullover sweaters in different colors!  It comes in Brown Bear, which is tan like Butterum; Burgundy Stem, which is red like Tawny Port; Green Bug, which is similar to Shaded Spruce; and Gray Heather, which is soft like Neutral Gray. The soft wool pullover features a zipper collar, and makes for the perfect winter layering piece, no matter what color you choose!

This season, go bold with your color choices and style. Winter fashion should be fun and festive, just like the people wearing the clothes.
