North Texas Giving Day

Charities came together in support of North Texas Giving Day

Welcome to September – the beginning of Giving Season! It’s a busy month with school being back in session, the weather getting cooler, and plans being made for the holidays, but it’s important to take some time to think about others. The best way to do that is by participating in North Texas Giving Day, hosted by the Communities Foundation of Texas. The 9th Annual Giving Day will be on September 14

North Texas Giving Day is the nation’s largest Giving Day event. Over the past eight years, Giving Day has raised $156 million for the local community, with support from all 50 states and 39 countries and breaking five national records. Last year’s Giving Day alone raised $37 million through more than 142,000 gifts benefiting 2,518 nonprofits! Now is your chance to help raise even more.

“The incredible energy and outpouring of support that this community generates each year on North Texas Giving Day is nothing short of remarkable, said Dave Scullin, president and CEO of Communities Foundation of Texas, in a recent press release. “Communities Foundation of Texas is honored to power this vast community-building effort that raises important funds for the nonprofits serving our region.”

The money raised during the 18-hour online giving event benefits the 16 counties of North Texas. The goal of the event is to make donating money easy, while helping build awareness and support for local nonprofit organizations. All you have to do is visit North Texas Giving Day’s website between 6 a.m. and midnight on September 14, and choose from one of 2,500 certified nonprofits listed online and make your donation.

Some of the nonprofits organizations you can donate to in the North Dallas Corridor include Addison Arbor FoundationCody’s Friends Rescue, Metrocrest Services, Operation Kindness, and Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities. A complete list of eligible organizations can be found online.

The Communities Foundation of Texas is the largest community foundation in Texas. It works to benefit the community by managing more than 900 charitable funds for families, companies, foundations and nonprofits and has awarded more than $1.6 billion in grants since it was founded in 1953.

If you’ve been thinking about how you can give back and help the community, now is the perfect opportunity. Just cuddle up with your favorite blanket and a hot cup of coffee, and start donating. Giving back has never been so easy!
