Dog Days of Summer Winner

It’s so hot in Addison right now that you can’t even think about going outside without sweat starting to form on your forehead. Luckily, the dogs around town know how to stay cool, and their owners have captured photos of their canines enjoying the sun for Addison Magazine’s fourth annual Dog Days of Summer photo contest. The photos were submitted online, and readers voted for their favorite pups. This year’s winner is…Spur!

2017 winner, Spur

Spur is a one-year-old female Labrador retriever, who “loves people and any dog she encounters. She loves to chase her tail, and give cuddles.” This brown puppy was photographed with her tale wagging, laying down in a bed of bluebonnets. In addition to being featured in the August/September print issue of Addison – The Magazine of the North Dallas Corridor!, Spur also won five days of doggie daycare, courtesy of Dog Days of Summer sponsor Citydog! Club and a three-day/two-night stay with a pampered shampoo from sponsor Poochville USA.

The first runner-up was Riley, a three-year-old female lab mix. According to her bio, “she is a rescue from Cedar Creek Lake. She loves the lake and not only rides on the boat and swims, but also likes to kayak, paddle board and ride in a tube behind the boat!” This black dog was photographed wearing a bright pink life jacket on the lake.

1st runner up, Riley

The second runner-up was Zeus, a two-year-old male red nose pit. “He is a certified service dog to a disabled vet and is always by his owner’s side,” stated his bio. His favorite activities are running horses and laying in laps.

2nd runner up, Zeus

Sponsors for the 2017 Dog Days of Summer Photo Contest include Citydog! Club and Poochville USA. Citydog! Club is a grooming, playing and boarding club designed specifically for dogs. Whether you will be gone for a day or you are going on vacation, dogs will stay entertained playing in the indoor play park where they can run around with other dogs and play with toys. Your dog will also get the chance to nap with calming music and enjoy an organic treat every day. For extra pampering, take your dogs to the Style Bar, where groomers will give dogs a bath, a blow out and brush, a nail trim and grind, ear cleaning and more.

Poochville USA is a new dog boarding, grooming and daycare that is designed to be a boutique environment with modern facilities. Dogs will enjoy running around in the large, outdoor play area and sleeping in the deluxe bedding area with turn down service and a nightly treat. You can also have your dogs groomed, where they will receive luxury baths, shampoos and more to leave them pampered and refreshed. The owner of Poochville, Tina Austin, also owns a pooch rescue center called Cody’s Friends Rescue. This nonprofit organization rescues all breeds of dogs, and currently has more than 200 dogs in its care. In addition, the rescue works to raise awareness about spaying and neutering and educates the community about shelters.
