These Styles are Back?

Platform heels and even tennis shoes are back

We’re all familiar with the concept of fashion coming full circle, and, as it turns out, the latest trends are no exception to the rule.

The Denim Skirt

Just a few years ago we may have scoffed at the idea of slipping into one of these denim beauties – they were a thing of the past – but now, all our favorite stores have them hanging gleefully on the racks. J. Crew, Chico’s, Club Monaco, and Anthropologie offer up the piece in a variety of styles, and there’s no complaining from shoppers. The jean skirt is versatile, and, thus, can be paired for a casual or dressy occasion. It’s time to bring it back into your closet!

Bodysuits

The bodysuit made waves during the 1970s as a form of athleisure apparel, and today we’re seeing the style hit runways again, only this time with a slightly different tone. You can find the modern-day romper on display in Neiman Marcus, Gap or even Lululemon; it’s an easy and popular choice regardless of occasion or season. From formalwear to beachside coverups, the bodysuit is a huge hit and we don’t see it leaving stores anytime soon.

Platform Shoes

What comes to mind when you think of platform shoes likely depends on your age. Some of us may think disco, while others might think Spice Girls and Britney Spears, but one things for sure, just like the other aforementioned trends, platform shoes are back. Whether they’re in the form of the infamous Converse Chuck Taylor sneaker or a breezy summer espadrille wedge, this trend helps put us all on a pedestal and we’re happy to rise a few inches to the occasion!

So, what can we learn from each blast from the past? Sometimes it’s okay to live in the yesteryears and take a few notes from our younger selves!
