I’ll let you in on a little secret: summer nights are better in Addison. Whether you love the single life, are in a committed relationship, or are looking for something to entertain the kids, Addison has it all. Enjoy the beautiful night air while listening to fantastic live music, stand-up comedy and more with your friends and family at the Town of Addison’s popular Summer Series and new Monday Medley events. Addison is serving up a dish of free, family fun and you don’t want to miss out!

Created in 2004, the Addison Summer Series is an annual event that provides outdoor entertainment and live music almost every Saturday night in June, July and August from 8p.m. to 10p.m. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for the event, so you can hang out comfortably while listening to music from all different genres. Guests are also encouraged to bring dinner from home (or order at an Addison Circle restaurant and take it to go) to turn the evening into a romantic night with a loved one or a fun family outing.

“Addison Summer Series is the perfect free summer weekend activity for families and friends of all ages to enjoy,” said Mary Rosenbleeth, director of public communications for Town of Addison. “Guests pack picnics, bring lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy live music under the stars in Beckert Park.”

Upcoming Summer Series performances include:

July 8: Joseph Vincelli

July 15: Special EFX Featuring Chieli Minucci

July 22: The O’s

July 29: Lao Tizer

August 5: Escape – Journey Tribute Band

August 12: Jake Dexter and The Main Street Sound

August 19: Bidi Bidi Banda

August 26: Blake Morgan

During the show, Summer Series’ sponsors Austin Eastciders and Lakewood Brewing Company will be providing beer and cider samples for guests 21 years old and older to enjoy responsibly. Nothing goes better with country artists, jazz musicians and groups, singer-songwriters and classic cover bands than a sip of smooth summer alcohol.

If you love the Summer Series, you will definitely want to check out Monday Medley as well. Monday Medley is a new Town of Addison event held on select Mondays in June, July and August from 7:30p.m. to 9p.m. Located in the courtyard next to the Addison Theatre Centre, Monday Medley is a collection of music, dance and comedy. This event also provides a perfect opportunity to bring blankets, chairs and a picnic while enjoying free entertainment. And it definitely makes a terrible Monday much better!

Upcoming Monday Medley entertainment lineup includes:

July 17: Dance Xpress – aerial dance in the park

July 24: Turtle Creek Chorale

August 14: Eddie Healy – acoustic guitar and vocals

August 21: Denise Lee – classic R&B

Delicious Addison Circle restaurants are offering discounted meals on the nights of the Summer Series and Monday Medley, so take advantage of this opportunity to try something new! Antonio’s Ristorante is offering 20 percent off all take-out orders; Astoria Caffe and Wine Bar is offering half-price wines for people to take to the park and enjoy during festivities; Mad Batter Baker is offering 20 percent off all take-out orders; Mucky Duck is offering a burger special and free chips and quest with a purchase of two entrees; Nyla Sushi is offering $20 for any two rolls or 20% off take-out orders; Skinny Pizza is offering 20% off your order (if you mention Summer Series); Taco Borracho is offering a three taco combo for $6 and a 1/2 burger with fries for $6.99; and Union Park is offering a deal where you can buy one full priced meal (entree, sandwich or salad) and a drink, and get the second meal half off for equal or lesser value (mention Summer Series or Monday Medley).

Looking for more ways to spend your summer in Addison? In addition to the more than 180 fantastic restaurants in Town, two movie theatres, and many entertainment venues, the Town of Addison also hosts several events throughout the year. Upcoming Town events include Kaboom Town! on July 3, a fireworks show, air show and festival that is rated one of the top fireworks displays in the U.S. Also, Addison Oktoberfest is returning to town from September 14 through 17. This festival is designed to be an authentic recreation of Oktoberfest in Germany and features German food, beer, games, rides, music and more.

It’s your choice: your summer can be miserable or wonderful. There is something about live music on a summer night in the park that makes you feel like you are on vacation (or at least that you are finally able to relax after a long year.) Take advantage of these free Addison events as often as you can. Before you know it, the summer will be over, our lives will go back to the busy way they were before, and lying down outside will feel like a distant memory. So pack up the gang and visit Addison Summer Series or Monday Medley – we’ll meet you under the stars.
