New Cancer Health and Wellness Center at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Plano

Being treated and recovering from cancer can be a long and difficult process, so it’s important to be in a place where people care about you. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Plano wants to provide a better facility for people struggling with cancer, which is why they are opening the Cancer Health and Wellness Center this summer.

The new Cancer Health and Wellness Center will be a place where people undergoing cancer treatment can find a dedicated, comfortable environment focused on their needs. It will feature a resource library; a gym that offers FitSTEPS for Life; a wellness program for people with cancer; From Cancer to Health, a program that helps people cope with cancer; nurse navigators who accompany patients throughout their diagnosis and treatment’ a quiet room for private conversations; nutritional counseling and a demonstration kitchen; genetic counseling; a child-life counselor; risk-assessment exam rooms; and multidisciplinary tumor conferences to help plan care.

“This center gives people the care they need, close to home,” said Ryan Gephart, director of professional services for Baylor Scott & White – Plano in a recent press release. “People don’t have to drive into the cities. They can get the same care right here.”

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Plano is accredited by the Commendation by the Commission on Cancer and by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. The hospital has experienced doctors, advanced technology and personalized care to treat breast cancer, colon cancer, head and neck cancer, lung cancer, prostrate cancer, skin cancer, thyroid cancer, bone and soft tissue cancers, gastrointestinal cancers, gynecological cancers, lymphoma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, brain cancers and urology cancers.
