Addison Launches PEG Channel
Whether you are interested in sitcoms, medical dramas or reality shows (we won’t tell anyone!), everyone loves to watch a little TV every now and then. And if you are interested in local weather or news, people still like to watch it on TV. That’s why the Town of Addison decided to launch their own Public, Educational and Governmental Access (PEG) channel! On April 4, Addison’s PEG channel went live for AT&T customers on channel 99 and on the Town of Addison’s website.
This new channel will feature the latest Addison news, events and calendar listings as well as videos and photos interspersed with the most recent city council and planning and zoning meetings. In addition, the channel will contain information detailing Addison’s emergency phone numbers, social media platforms and job opportunities. Past meetings will play once every six hours between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., except on Tuesdays due to regularly scheduled city council meetings.
The Town of Addison decided to launch the PEG channel in an effort to improve and increase the flow of information to the community. Also, the channel will create opportunities to make Addison government more open and accessible to its citizens. One of the Town’s goals in the future is to incorporate more video that can be used on multiple platforms. The Town plans to create short videos to educate residents on a variety of topics, such as how to use the website, how to pay a bill online, how to find a parking permit and more.
Currently, the Town is working with Spectrum to be able to provide this service to their subscribers. If you aren’t home, or don’t have AT&T, you can always watch it on the Town’s website. This channel is your new one-stop-shop for everything you would ever need to know about the Town of Addison – in a convenient way.
Addison is a 4.4 square mile urban enclave that offers the same energy, restaurants and businesses as a big city. It is home to more than 180 restaurants, 22 hotels, upscale living properties, special events and more than 10 million square feet of office space.
