It was about 12 months ago that the Crosstown Rebels and its founder Damian Lazarus created the Day Zero Festival in Playa Del Carmen. The festival featured some prominent electronic artists including Massive Attack’s 3D, Jamie Jones, Art Department and TEED. The idea of the festival was to come together at the beginning of a new Mayan calendar with music, thus one year later, Day Zero: Year One is ready for round two.
The festival is strategically planned in Mexico, not only a great place for a festival, but near where the Mayans originally lived. While the Mayans didn’t have electronic music in their day, I’m sure they will still appreciate the festival nonetheless.
In its second year, Day Zero: Year One will take place on Jan. 11, 2014. The festival which Crosstown Rebels describes as, “a spiritual spectacle of wonder, joy and musical excellence” will once again team up with with Secret Productions (Secret Garden and Wilderness Festivals) in putting the show on.
You can expect another 24-hour festival of nonstop music. The festival will feature multiple stages throughout the event.
The lineup has yet to be announced for Day Zero: Year One, but details will be available soon. Tickets are also expected to go on sale soon as well. Be sure to visit the festival website for more information and to purchase tickets. Because hey, you can always use another excuse to visit Playa del Carmen in Mexico.
