Decorating for the Winter Months

1112 Decorating for the Winter MonthsAs the days get shorter and the temperature begins to drop, we see that it is time for winter in Addison and the North Dallas Corridor. With the winter months comes a new feeling inside your home – not only the warmth of the holidays and the fireplace, but an urge to update the inside of your home with the changing of the seasons. Luckily, here in the Corridor there are some great places to help get your home decorated for the holidays.

The Winter Shades

This winter, solid earth tones and metals are a great way to liven up a mood in your living room. Oranges and browns are a popular color this season from sofas to comfy chairs. Metals with your furniture can not only provide a little edgy feel, but it brightens up the room as well. Dinah Capshaw from Zuri Furniture describes how metals can give a room a new feel. “Brass and chrome can add hints of ‘bling.’ Some people are hesitant to use golds and silvers together, but the contrast actually works quite nicely.  Brass is also very popular right now, from accent furniture to accessories.”

If you don’t want to update a room with new furniture, adding blankets, cozy throws and textured pillows to a sofa you already have can change the entire look and feel of a room. When you think of winter, you generally think of white, but using black accent pillows can make your room pop and make you feel like you’re in a whole new room.

The Winter Updates

When people think November and December, Thanksgiving and Christmas are usually the first things that come to mind. And with those holidays come parties, entertaining and big dinners. So it is no surprise that dining room furnishings are the most popular pieces during this time of year. People want to make sure they have the very best rooms to entertain in for parties and family during these months, so help from stores such as Z Gallerie can help you set up your new room. As Anne-Marie Reid from Z Gallerie explains, “As winter months approach, we are using layers of texture, color and thematic interest as focuses for holiday entertaining and dining. We love to incorporate grand-scaled table accessories like vases and candelabras to really elevate our tablescapes to celebrity event planner levels.“

Capshaw also sees the importance of upgrading your dining room. “I see a lot of updating dining rooms to achieve that wow factor around the holidays. For example, uniquely shaped sharp seating and tons of tabletop bling!  I also foresee plenty of silver and white schemes with or without an additional pop of color.”

So when you’re updating your rooms this winter, be sure to give your room not only a different feel, but a different look. Whether you’re aiming to update the look of your living room with the changing of the season or you’re looking to upgrade your dining room when your family comes over for Thanksgiving dinner, there are plenty of options right here in the Corridor. Ask one of the interior design experts from Zuri Furniture or even be inspired by the art gallery in Z Gallerie, but no matter what, you will find exactly what you are looking for.
