Applying concealer

Everybody has at least one trouble area on their skin that they wish they could get rid of. Whether you have the dark, blue circles under your eyes that run in my family, you have dark spots caused by aging, or you suffer from something else, color-correcting concealer is the newest trend to get that glamorous glow (and hide imperfections). Keep reading for some of our tips and product suggestions for color-correcting makeup, available in the Corridor.

Undereye Corrector, Mary Kay – $16

This under eye corrector is made to neutralize dark circles and brighten the under eye area for a more refreshed look. “Our under eye corrector is incredible!” said Lizi Gregory, Independent Sales Director for Addison-based Mary Kay. “It’s a peach tone concealer that works by using a color on the opposite end of the color wheel. So if you need to correct blue/purple under your eyes, you look to the color on the opposite side of the wheel, which is peach. That’s why our peach-toned concealer is the perfect under eye corrector and totally cancels out dark circles!”

Stila Correct and Perfect All-In-One Color Correcting Palette, Sephora – $59

Maybe you suffer from different skin problems on different days. If that’s the case, you will love this color-correcting palette, which features five creams that let you neutralize different imperfections, including dark circles/spots, redness and hyperpigmentation. Peach is used to neutralize dark under eye circles on fair/medium skin tones, pink brightens eye area and covers fatigue, yellow neutralizes hyperpigmentation and dark spots, green counteracts redness from acne and more, and orange counteracts dark under-eye circles on darker skin tones. Also included in the palette are two finishing powders to even out skin tone, brighten and set the correcting creams. It’s the perfect palette for anything life throws at you!

Smashbox Color Correcting Stick, Beauty Brands – $23

Sometimes all you need is a color-correcting tool that is easy to use, and small enough to bring with you everywhere. We love this Smashbox stick, which comes in green, purple, peach and orange. This easy-to-apply creamy stick can be used wet or dry to hide hyperpigmentation, dark circles, dullness, and redness, depending on which one you use. The formula is silky and lightweight, so you can easily apply over your regular makeup and blend it in to balance and brighten your skin, even when you are in a rush or on the go. It also comes with a sharpener, so you can always keep it sharp and ready to go in case of emergency.
